My Westco single is my favorite room I've ever lived in. Here's a look around.
I think of this as the heart of the room. This is where I do homework and make most of my little crafts and projects. I've got glues, tapes, paints, ropes, fasteners, and tools. There's more stuff in the drawers, but I keep the things I use most often out in the open for easy access. I dreamed for a long time about having a garage-workshop-type setup, and now I have it.
I put a sheet of plywood over the faux-wood desk so that I could get paint and scratches on it. It also lets people write me messages, which is nice.
The lumper/scrap pile is in the corner. The boards are mostly recovered from old shelves or scavenged from palletwood. I usually try to keep some cardboard back there too for sandals or postcards.
I really like these little shelves. The papers on the wall are notes from people testing out the typewriter. The only two I have right now are from Ruby Barton and Lily Edelman, but I think there'll be more in the future.
This wall is a lot of fun. You can write whatever you want on it with chalk and drill 1/2" holes in the brick for recreation. Jonah says that it will make visitors think that I'm schizophrenic. Hasn't happened so far.
LiWa took this photo. If this room is invaded, I will defend it with my life. But if you want a tour, I love showing people around.
