Here are a bunch of little crafts I've done that don't deserve their own posts.
I got these smashed acorns from an archeology demonstration about subsistence strategies in Jomon period Japan. Somehow, it was even cooler than it sounds.
The recipe my professor gave me were very incorrect. All love though.
I tasted some and mixed the rest with honey. Pretty inedible to be honest.
I got this messenger bag at Goodwill and painted it to make it look less dorky. I really like this bag, but there's a reason why people just use backpacks.
I figure it'll make it less likely to get stolen, and I think it looks cooler than all-black.
I really like this shelf setup I put up in my D.C. room. Apparently my Nana likes it too.
I have a couple of these little type-ups around my room. I think they look cool and they let me have passages or lyrics I like hidden around. This one is "Katrina and the K-Hole" by Lifter Puller.
Did the same thing on my water bottle with "Cooking with Satan" by Sun City Girls. I did like 4 coats of modgepodge to make it waterproof but now its all goopy.
I made this little keychain out of a plywood scrap. I also made Coco one for her room keys.
Then I lost that one and made this one, which actually moves up and down the screw if you twist it. Unintentional, but blew my mind.
I made matching pairs of these cardboard sandals for Jonah and I. The idea was an American equivalent to "Ho Chi Minh" sandals, but cardboard is a lot thinner than rubber. They're horrible to walk in but I think they look kinda cool.
I attached a little string between by car and gas cap so that I don't lose it again. This was pretty much just an excuse to use some plumber's epoxy that I bought.
This is a little bag I made out of a pencil case. It's the perfect size for when you're wearing shorts and can't carry your normal pocket stuff.
Customizing your things is fun. Even if it makes it uglier or function worse, you'll still probably like the object more. I've painted or engraved half the stuff I own, and I don't regret a single one.
